Week 2 - Matchups To Watch

Game of the Week
Miami (FL) (1-0) @ #5 Florida (1-0)
Line: Florida -21.5

Five years ago, this would have been clearly the game of the week, but since Urban Meyer took over, the two programs have moved in opposite directions. With Meyer, it seems like Florida will continue to be a title contender while the Canes have dropped to the middle of the pack in the ACC. Whether or not WR Percy Harvin plays or not, Tim Tebow should have plenty of options against an always athletic Miami defense. It will be the play of one of Miami's freshman QB tandem Ricky Marve or Jacory Harris that dictates whether the Canes can hang in there or fold under the pressure.

San Diego State (0-1) @ Notre Dame (0-0) Line: Notre Dame -22

With a slow week this week, I am forced to recommend watching the only team in college that has its own national network. (NBC - Maybe your connection to Notre Dame is the reason why your network is dropping in the ratings) While a clean slate brings renewed optimism to South Bend, a victory over SDSU, who embarrassed themselves last week by losing to I-AA Cal Poly, won't ultimately prove much. Once we get into the meat of their schedule, we will see if NBC is getting its moneys worth.

#8 West Virginia (1-0) @ East Carolina (1-0)
Line: West Virginia -8

Coming off their national headline grabbing victory over #17 Virginia Tech, East Carolina hopes to keep the momentum going against West Virginia. While V-Tech lacked offensive firepower, West Virginia has no such problems with their Heisman candidate QB Pat White and RB Noel Devine. It will be interesting to see if Skip Holtz can fire up his kids to bring even more defensive intensity then last week. Lost in the hoopla of the blocked punt was ECU QB Patrick Pinkney's stellar 19-23 performance against the always tough V-Tech defense. On paper this game lacks a major draw, but on the field, it has the potential to be one of this week's most compelling games

Ole Miss (1-0) @ #20 Wake Forest (1-0)
Line: Wake Forest -8

Wake Forest emerged this week as the ACC's lone representative in the AP Top 25. Wake's quarterback Riley Skinner always finds a way to win. He epitomizes the scrappiness of the program, but they look to be tested by a new look Ole Miss. Former Arkansas coach, Houston Nutt leads an unheralded group of kids who look to have Ole Miss' first winning season since Eli Manning was still the quarterback. A win from either of these teams will go a long way for national respectability.

Georgia Tech (1-0) @ Boston College (1-0)
Line: Boston College -7

With the ACC wide open this year, this early season match up will show if either of these teams can emerge as contenders. Boston College looks to show that last season wasn't just the Matt Ryan show and Georgia Tech's new coach Paul Johnson will be trying to show that the triple option attack that worked for so many years at Navy can work in the ACC.
